BudgetLabs keeps your budget in the currency you actually earn and spend in. Set it once and every figure in the app follows — dashboard, transactions, bills, debt, assets, and charts.
Change your currency
- Go to Settings → Currency & Format.
- Pick your currency. Every ISO currency is in the list, not a shortlist.
- Check the preview underneath. It shows a sample amount and date exactly as they will appear.
- Adjust number and date format if you want something other than the default.
- Tap Save.
Nothing is converted — ever
This is the important part. BudgetLabs does not convert your money. There are no exchange rates anywhere in the app.
Changing the currency changes the label, not the number. If you have a
transaction recorded as 1000 and you switch from dollars to kronor, it becomes
1 000,00 kr — not "the dollar value converted into kronor". Your figures are
exactly as you entered them; only the symbol and the formatting change.
That is deliberate. A converted ledger stops matching your bank statement, and every historical total would depend on which day you happened to look at it. If you earn, spend, and bank in one currency, conversion buys you nothing.
If you genuinely hold money in more than one currency, keep a separate budget for each — one currency per budget.
Number and date format
The format follows the currency, because that is almost always what you want:
pick Swedish kronor and dates read 2026-08-05 with amounts like 1 234,56 kr;
pick US dollars and you get 8/5/2026 and $1,234.56.
You can override it on its own. Someone living abroad might want their local currency with the number formatting they grew up reading — that is what the second picker is for.
Sharing a budget
Currency belongs to the budget, not to you personally. Everyone sharing a budget sees the same currency, because they are all looking at the same numbers — if it followed each viewer, the same stored amount would read two different ways for two people in the same household.
For that reason, only the budget owner can change it.
What it does not affect
- Your bill from us. Subscription pricing is handled separately by Stripe on the web and by the App Store on iPhone and iPad, in their own currencies.
